Last July, tennis champion Serena Williams finally moved into her dream home that had been five years in the making. Located just north of Miami, she lives within easy driving distance of her parents as well as her sister Venus, who also took the reigns of designing the house. Just as Serena has taken up creative pursuits by starting a fashion brand, Venus pivoted from tennis and now owns V-Starr, her world-class design firm.

Under Venus's direction, the 14,500 square foot Spanish-Mediterranean style was fully gutted and renovated into a modern, sleek, and sprawling oasis.

Serena wanted a home that was both luxurious and welcoming. Venus describes her sister as fun-loving and carefree and it was her goal to design a space that reflected her personality.

One way they achieved that is by completely doing away with the formal foyer and sitting room at the main entrance of the house. Serena knew that with her lifestyle, a stuffy living room would go unused. Instead, they created an open and airy art gallery space. When guests arrive, they can walk through the space and admire the art while they're on their way to the more active rooms in the house..

And there's no area that gets as much action and fun as the karaoke room that sits hidden behind a bookshelf!

In addition to the Serenade karaoke club, other notable aspects of the home include heated floors in every bathroom, an enormous wine cellar, a full gym complete with its own sauna,  Serena's walk-in closet designed to look like a retail store, and a trophy room to store her impressive collection.

One thing you won't find is a tennis court–Serena doesn't want to take work home with her.  This house is her sanctuary, and you can imagine how easy it is to relax in a home that looks like this:
