This New Year's Eve in Los Angeles, there will be no swanky parties to attend or fancy restaurant reservations to get dressed up for. Even though the holiday looks very different in 2020, that doesn't mean you shouldn't find a way to celebrate in whatever small way you can. Getting some indulgent take-out always makes an evening a little more fun, so consider ordering from one of our favorite Los Angeles restaurants on the east side that are open on New Year's Eve.
Little Dom's
This year, the Los Feliz neighborhood institution is open with specials for NYE and New Year's Day. On NYE, choose from dishes like lobster spaghettoni or short rib with saffron risotto. On New Year's Day, they're offering a dish with black-eyed peas and collard greens. That's definitely something you should consider ordering because traditionally, this combo is supposed to bring luck for the year ahead––and we could use all the help we can get!
The Quiet Dumpling
The Quiet Dumpling is a brand new spot in East Hollywood, located right next to Square One Dining on Fountain Ave. Everything they offer is delicious, but their reuben eggroll (as in the sandwich), everything bagel crab and cream cheese fried wontons, and broccoli beef dumplings are outstanding.
Sunset Sushi
Sunset Sushi is another new restaurant that has bravely opened up during the pandemic. If you want some sushi that's as tasty as it is Instagramable, order one of their festive and fancy looking sushi boxes.
Thunderbolt
If you're looking for a festive deal, check out Thunderbolt's NYE Party Kits. For $99, you can choose between 'Fancy Bubbles and Snacks" (featuring smoked trout caviar, country ham, and bake-at-home biscuits) or the "Champagne and Fried Chicken Feast." Both kits come with a bottle of champagne and feed 2-3 people, so this is a great value!
L&E Oyster Bar
You can build your own party kit with the special a la carte NYE menu at L&E Oyster Bar. Choose from champagne and premade cocktails, oysters (shucked or unshucked), caviar, plus their entire regular menu. Everything is available for pick up only from 2 PM-7 PM, so order and plan ahead!
