Hyde Park is a predominantly African-American community. Residents take pride in their neighborhood and it is notable for cleanliness, low crime rates, and good schools. The area is served by Crenshaw High School and Angeles Mesa Elementary School. The Los Angeles bus system has a number of stops in the area, however the light rail system has no stops or depots within the neighborhood.
