Signal Hill Homes

Everyone finds beauty in the steep inclines that characterize Signal Hill. The Long Beach chapter of the Sierra Club does conditioning hikes twice a week and numerous competitive runners use its steep hills to train. Owners of Signal Hill homes enjoy unsurpassed views of the Pacific Ocean. The 365-foot ascension got its name because it was used by the local Tongva Indians for signal fires that could be seen throughout the surrounding area.

Signal Hill real estate, the site of oil discovery in 1921, was incorporated in 1924 in an effort to avoid Long Beach's oil tax and zoning restrictions. Today, it is home to Office Depot's Southern California distribution center, Universal Care headquarters, and the retail outlets of Costco, Target, two Home Depot stores, Best Buy, Circuit City, and an auto center.

Signal Hill is known for its many city parks that offer stunning views and acres of walking/hiking trails. The town is served by the Long Beach Unified School District. Signal Hill Elementary School scored 870 of a possible 1,000 points on the state's Academic Performance Index.
