About Lennox

Lennox is a small community of about 22,000 residents located in the far southern portion of Los Angeles. It is a purpose-built suburban community for Los Angeles commuters, flanked by interstate 405 and interstate 105 to facilitate movement to and from town. It also lies adjacent to LAX and is directly under the flight path for Pacific flights. With a fill third of its residents being under the age of 18, it is a family-oriented community, as reflected in the large amount of school choice, the several parks and other kid-friendly opportunities presented by the community.

Local real estate agents focus primarily on single-family houses with multiple bedrooms to facilitate the growth and development of large families. Most of the houses are single-floor units with front and back yards, having 2-3 bathrooms and bedrooms. Many apartments are also available, especially in areas nearer to the freeways. There is a good mixture of homes for rent and for purchase, ensuring that varying budgets and family sizes can always find a place which is a good fit for them and for their needs. Additionally, many local real estate agents are multi-lingual, helping them to more easily understand and sell to Latino clients.

Lennox has seen a steady increase in its Latino community since the 1980s. Originally a largely white suburb, it has since become very racially mixed, with a large number of white, African American, Asian and other races choosing to live in the area. It is particularly popular with young families and recent immigrants since it offers a much reduced cost of living when compared to Los Angeles proper. Additionally, houses tend to be much larger and offer much more space for the same price, further increasing the attractiveness.

Due to the large number of children living in Lennox, it is served by over a dozen elementary, middle and high schools, helping ensure that parents have the maximum amount of choice when it comes to where their children are educated and what sort of education they receive. Increasingly, schools offer ESL and bilingual options to help ensure that recent Latino immigrants do not do poorly in school due to a language barrier. Lennox has also seen the arrival of a number of specialty schools, most notably Lennox Mathematics, Science & Technology Academy. This school, which requires testing for admission, accepts the best and brightest in Lennox and helps them to succeed and excel through the use of AP courses and college outreach programs, helping to increase their employability. Lennox is also home to the Animo Leadership Charter High School, which accepts students through a lottery program.
