Los Angeles Votes to Ban Most Gas Appliances

On May 27th, the Los Angeles City Council voted to ban gas appliances in new construction, a measure meant to address the ongoing climate crisis. Councilmember Nithya Raman says this zero-emission policy, "puts us in line with climate leaders across the country," and over 50 other California cities that have enacted similar bans.

This new policy will gradually go into effect over the course of the next few years and will mean housing and businesses will come equipped with electric stoves, water heaters, dryers, and furnaces.
